The "Agriculture 4.0 and Communities" Workshop represents a moment of convergence between technological innovation and agricultural tradition in the heart of the Mediterranean. This two-days event brings together international experts and local operators to explore how advanced technologies can serve the sustainable development of agricultural communities, while preserving territorial identity and Calabria's biodiversity.
The initiative stems from collaboration between researchers from the Universities of Strathclyde and Calabria, professors from the territory and local entrepreneurs, united by a common vision of agriculture that integrates advanced computational systems, sensor networks and data analysis with consolidated agronomic skills and deep knowledge of the territory.
The workshop will take place between the classrooms and laboratories of the University of Calabria and the fields of Terzeria, offering participants an immersive experience that alternates theory and practice. Technical sessions will explore the integration of satellite and remote sensing observations in general, computational modelling in Mediterranean agriculture, and energy efficiency, while the socio-economic discussion panel will address the challenges of technological and digital inclusion and equitable development in rural areas.
This event aims not only as a moment of scientific exchange, but as a catalyst for a new alliance between technology and territory, where innovation becomes an instrument of emancipation for rural communities and custodians of Mediterranean biodiversity.
